Green Beans (Momma I’m Tired)

I crashed out and went home

Maybe I should have tried harder

But I miss my mother

How she would brush my hair back

Lying on the couch in the living room

Staring at nothing

Oh baby, she’d say

Come sit in the kitchen with me and snap green beans

The breeze would drift through the windows

And my sadness would settle softly on the tiles

Framed in evening sun
